The rehabilitation of the Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, part of the roadway that connects Cancun with the rest of the Riviera Maya, has caused notable increases in travel time, specifically to the Cancun International Airport.<\/p>\n\n

As a preventive measure, several airlines have issued press releases inviting travelers to take measures to avoid this setback, as well as recommending the use of alternate routes to avoid the construction work, such as Huayacan, Lopez Portillo, 135 and Cancun-Merida avenues. Likewise, the various companies that provide transportation services have joined the initiative to invite their users to take such preventive measures.<\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n

The works carried out are intended to benefit the population and tourists visiting the Riviera Maya, but for the time being drivers are asked to exercise extreme caution. According to the communiqu\u00e9 from the authorities, there are two schedules for the directions of traffic: from 00:00 to 14:00 hours, two one-way lanes from north to south (Cancun-Playa del Carmen) and one on the return; and from 14:00 to 00:00 hours, two lanes from south to north (Playa del Carmen-Cancun) and one on the opposite side, as well as the first section of 1. 3 kilometers of Bulevar Colosio, between Plaza Luxury and La Salle University, one lane will be maintained in contraflow, one reversible lane for peak traffic hours and one normal lane in the north-south direction, from downtown Cancun to the airport, so that motorists can move forward in an orderly and cautious manner.<\/p>\n\n

A couple of weeks ago, President Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador visited the city to initiate four new projects that seek to further improve urban infrastructure, with an investment of 7,262.4 million pesos. The projects mentioned are the Nichupt\u00e9 Bridge, which will conclude work in December 2023, the second is the rehabilitation of the Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, the third is the Airport Distributor, with work to be completed by October 2023, and the last is the widening of Chac Mool Avenue, which will connect with Colosio Boulevard, with a tentative delivery date of October 2023.<\/p>\n\n
